About Kyrri

Music Teacher

Kyrri Nicole Schober is a mezzo-soprano, pianist, flutist, and teacher. Her mission is to help each of her students unlock their personal best and develop a lifelong love of music-making. It is her belief that a solid foundation leads to an ability to continue learning and enjoying music long after lessons have ended. Whether in the classroom, private lessons, church, or as part of organizational administration in the arts with organizations such as the Chicago Philharmonic and Haymarket Opera Company, Kyrri has spent most of her life involved in the music scene.

Kyrri has been teaching piano in various capacities for 15 years, also began teaching voice during her undergraduate studies, and added flute to her teaching roster in 2024. She grew up in a musical family, and her mother started her on piano as a young child, later giving her her first singing lessons. She went on to study voice with John Hacker, Beth Ann Swinson, and Elena Batman, and she continued piano studies with Jennifer Scheele and Debbie Gillette. As a child, Kyrri studied flute with Gwendolyn Garza and Ronda Mader. After a hiatus, she studied again with Lauren Lewis and currently with Jill O’neill.

Having done specialized research and concert production in the area of special needs individuals and the classical music hall experience, Kyrri is given to making musical experiences accessible for all levels and abilities. While working as the Music Teacher at Open Wings Learning Community in Kenosha, WI, she launched the school’s inaugural choral program while further developed her teaching skills in relation to neurodiverse students. Kyrri believes all individuals should have the opportunity for positive experiences with music.

Kyrri holds a bachelor’s degree in voice performance and arts administration from Trinity International University, where she graduated with honors and received the Morris Faugerstrom Award for Academic Excellence in Music. As a vocalist, she was selected as a finalist for the Jury Prize Recital in her first year at TIU, and performed the roles of Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance, Fanny Dashwood in the premier performance of Sense and Sensibility, and Nurse/Extras in She Loves Me. In addition, she was active in various ensembles such as Concert Choir — where she was also the alto section leader, music librarian, and multiple times a soloist — Handbell Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, Chamber Ensemble, and appearances with Symphonic Band. During her senior year at TIU, she performed with the Trinity Community Philharmonic Orchestra as a winning soloist of the annual Aria/Concerto competition. She also served as an accompanist and teaching assistant in the music department.

Kyrri is also passionate about church music, and has participated in it since her childhood. Back in Racine, WI she was active in her local church as a worship leader and administrator before moving to Fort Mill, SC in 2023. She graduated with a certificate of worship arts in keyboard and bass from Living Light School of Worship in 2017 and completed a music and media internship in 2022 with Living Light Christian Church U.K.
